Notebook, 1638; 1755-1898.

This notebook was organized by Hezekiah Conant, and illustrated in watercolors by his son, Samuel Morris Conant (1861-1930. It contains a large variety of papers belonging to descendants of Roger Conant. There are deeds, receipts, indentures, rights in patents, commissions, and land plans, often belonging to Josiah Conant (1732- ), Hervey Conant (1796-1868), and members of the Healy family. There is a photocpopy of a 1638 document signed by Robert Conant and four pieces of money, 1773-1841. The watercolors are of Hezekiah Conant's birthplace, the Conant Coat of Arms, Conant family tree, Josiah Conant's cuff links, and Budleigh Hall, Otterton, Devonshire, England. There are also several photographs of Budleigh Hall.

Hezekiah Conant (1827-1902) was an inventor and manufacturer from Dudley, Mass., and responsible for many improvements in the manufacture of thread.
